My new hunting grounds are in Kinney County, TX. There are some dandy deer out there but also some deadly critters.
Here are some pics of some of these nastys. I see them every time I go check on the place. So if you are hunting
down South be careful and watch out for these guys.

Army Ant also know as the Texas Imported Ant - This is your backyard fire ant on steriods.
They like to hang out around feeders and eat the corn. As long as you don't bother them they usually leave you alone.
I have found it is impossible to get rid of them so I quit trying.

The Black Widow - what can you say about this gal. She eats her mate after they do the funky
and her poison is 15 times more deadly than the rattlesnake. Lucky for us she doesn't have the venom capacity that the
snake has. This baby hangs out around your bedding around wooden fence post like in the corner of a barn. I found
one in my cabin next to the A/C. The best way to kill her is to stomp her with a boot.

Brown Recluse Spider - Doesn't this little bugger just look vicious? Well it is and when it
bites you your skin starts to rot and decay all along the bite. They like to hang out with the Widow. Boot stomp
them every chance you get. They look just like a fiddle from the belly side. I recommend destroying anything that looks
like this.

Cow Ant or Cow Killer - This is not an ant at all but a wasp without the wings. I've been told
that their sting is so powerful that it can kill a cow. Hence the name. This thing actually feeds on flying wasp
larva, so I kinda like em. Just don't touch it. It will hurt you. Stomp em with a boot if you feel like
it. I stomp them when I'm in the mood. Let em walk if it is their lucky day.

Western Diamondback Rattlesnake- what can you say. Everybody with any sense knows how dangerous
this critter is. Although most people do not die from them anymore. They are capable of killing you. Make
sure you have a GOOD snakebite kit handy at all times. Make sure you know excactly where the nearest hospital is.
Rattlesnakes hang out in burrougs and shady areas. You cannot see them unless they are moving. Watch where you step.
DON'T STOMP EM. You will be on the losing end. I recommend a 12 gage 6 shot to the head.

Red wasp and Yellowjackets - These fellars give me the heebie jeebies. They get in your stand,
empty feeders, hang from trees and get into your cabin and trailers. They hurt when they sting. I've been
popped many a time and by more than one. They build paper like nest and are agitated easily. I always have a can
of wasp spray in my jeep and trailer. This is the best way to get em dead. Good wasp spray puts and instant kill
on them. They get sluggish in cool weather. This is a good time to kill all of them and their loved ones.

The Scorpion - I like this guy as much as I like spiders. Just looking at this pic gives me
chill bumps. I have never beens stung by one but one old timer told me it felt like a thousand yellowjackets stinging
you at once. I will trust him on this one. They get in trailers and run around your campground at night.
Stomp them every chance you get. FYI- they make terrible pets.

Tarantula Hawk - This is a wasp that eats nothing else but tarantulas. We have thousands of
them on our place. She grows up to 4 inches in length. When you see one you will never forget it because of how
huge it is. Luckly they are not aggressive unless cornered or accidently getting hung up in your clothing or hair.
BEWARE there is no bug on this continent that has a more painful sting. Lucky for us it only causes tremendous pain
and is not deadly. They say the toughest of men cannot keep from screaming after being stung by this thing. Male
Taratula Hawks have no stinger. Just leave them alone and they will leave you alone.

Tick-cute little thing. The only bad thing is they suck your blood cause you infections and can even
kill you if they transmit some of the deadly diseases they carry with them. Don't walk in high grass and during the
summer spray your ankles, underwear waist band and your cahonies with bug spray. It might help.
